untitled

The music you are listening to is entitled

"JADA"

I played it for My Mother on her

100th Birthday

Wish you could have heard my mother play

A Habit is Forever

A sunbeam from the morning light
squeaked through the window blind
Landing on my sleeping eyes
and nudging them real kind

The thoughts of hot brewed coffee
gently stirred me to get up
Pushed me toward the kitchen
to prepare that "precious" cup

As aroma drifted noseward
I showered and I shaved
Scrambled eggs for breakfast
Oh yes - that's what I craved

I dressed up in my "working" suit
shirt and tie so neat
A big impression I would make
on the people that I'd meet

Drove to work so cheerfully
even all the lights were green
Flowers - smiling butterflies
filled all the flora scene

Parked the car as usual
then walked to suite 202
Smiled at all my awestruck friends
as each came into view

The phone began a ringing
The BOSS said - "Come my way"
Then looked me squarely in the eye

and said

YOU RETIRED - YESTERDAY

Just Who is Mr. Doug

I've had my share of living
Great memories from the start
The Golden Years they call them
I'm old - But I'm Young at Heart

So many friends I've gathered
Each one of them a part
Of many years togther
I'm old - But I'm Young at Heart

Always tried to do it right
Keep the horse before the cart
Learning life's experiences
I'm old - But I'm Young at Heart

Still got a lot I want to do
Gonna live until I die
I'll never-never give it up
Too Young at Heart - I sigh

I'll keep on writing poems
Sincere and full of love
Words that come like magic
From the Good Lord - up above

My Quiet Place

I found a piece of heaven

and I found it here on earth

A place to quell my fears and woes

and give happiness new birth

Tranquil is the setting

and peacefullness abounds

rippling water and chirping birds

echo heartfelt sounds

A quiet place is needed

to put perspectives in their place

To freshen cobweb feelings

and bring smiles to my face
